CBS3 anchor Ukee Washington hammed it up with “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert recently in New York City, in advance of Colbert’s local debut tonight after Eyewitness News.

The one-on-one interview, which airs tonight at 11 p.m., covers the gamut of topics – from the serious to the hysterical – including the impending question from Washington on whether Colbert prefers his cheese steak “wit or witout?”

Washington said the New York visit was his first time meeting Colbert, but that he felt like he’d known him his whole life.

“What an intelligent, humorous and humble man,” said Washington.

“I have no doubt that CBS found the right person for the job!”

When the two former boys’ choir members (Washington, as a youth, traversed the globe with the Philadelphia Boys Choir) realize they have strong pipes in common, they break into an impromptu rendition of the national anthem.
